Artist Bio
Edwina Kung is a visual artist from Hong Kong, based in Nottingham, United Kingdom. Her work has been exhibited locally and overseas. She has collaborated with the UK’s Inspire Nottinghamshire Libraries, Auckland Project, Liberty Festival, Children’s Hospital Charity, Buxton International Festival and Two Temple Place. She received her education in Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United States and the UK, and completed a Master’s degree in fine art at Nottingham Trent University.
Artist statement
My practice consistently explores how we respond to our surroundings to create meaningful relationships with people, memories and places. The works I create take inspiration from both personal and collective experiences with a sense of place, and are formed using a combination of drawing, painting and textural elements. I develop my visual language through careful and deliberate texturing and mark-making, weaving and revealing traces of the creative process. My work is often driven by storytelling, as I believe everyone’s story is equally important and that each story is worth telling and listening to.
